Camp Mataponi Wedding

As a wedding photographer, I get to experience so many unique and heartfelt celebrations, but this one at Camp Mataponi in Naples, Maine, truly stood out. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the quiet excitement in the air. The forecast had been threatening rain all week, but as luck (and maybe a little magic) would have it, the skies held off just long enough to give this couple the wedding day they had hoped for, completely rain-free.

Camp Mataponi offered a setting that felt like a hidden gem tucked away in the woods, right on the lakefront. Every detail was thought out so beautifully, from the carefully curated florals to the warm and personal touches throughout the decor. And of course, there was one special guest who completely stole the show, Cash, the couple’s wedding dog. He trotted around like he knew exactly how important the day was, wearing his wedding gear like a total pro. He added so much charm and personality to the day and quickly became a favorite to photograph.

The reception hall at Camp Mataponi is something out of a dream for both guests and photographers alike. It’s a spacious banquet-style room that feels cozy and grand at the same time, with walls made almost entirely of windows. As the sun set over the lake, the entire room was filled with soft golden light and panoramic views of the water, an absolutely stunning backdrop for dinner, dancing, and emotional toasts.

What made this venue especially perfect was how family-friendly and guest-oriented it was. The property is filled with classic Maine-style cabins, allowing guests to stay right on site. This not only made logistics super easy, but it added a laid-back, summer camp vibe to the whole weekend.

Weddings like this are a reminder of how joyful, intimate, and meaningful a celebration can be when surrounded by nature, loved ones, and just the right amount of good luck with the weather. Camp Mataponi delivered on every level and I feel so lucky to have captured it all.
